PERSONAL HISTORY

Lion Debbie Dawson was born in 1960 in Toronto, Ontario where she attended elementary and secondary school graduating from Riverdale Collegiate.  In 1979, Lion Debbie graduated from Business College and was employed by Lever Brothers.  She was directly responsible for contract negotiations and human resources for the unionized employees.  In 1989, Lion Debbie went on to become a licensed Real Estate Broker in Oshawa.  She was the co-owner of a successful Real Estate franchise until her retirement from the industry in 2017.

  • Served as President of the Durham Association of Realtors in 2009

  • Served as Governor of Realtor Care Foundation for Ontario 2010-2012

  • Member of the Chamber of Commerce for the City of Oshawa

At the same time, Lion Debbie became involved with Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre.  In 2013, Debbie joined Hearth Place part-time as a Fundraising and Community Engagement Officer.  Lion Debbie continues to work today at Hearth Place.

In her spare time, Lion Debbie enjoys reading, cooking, and travelling. She loves spending time with family, her two granddaughters, and her partner Lion Don Bridge.
